Give In To Love
With a Billboard Critic's Choice song, awards for Best Bassist and Best Song from Hotwire Magazine, this is an extraordinary mix of genres all beautifully executed by musicians at the top of their field.
"Give In To Love", Diane Lindsay's second release on Cityscape Records, is a heartfelt collection of contemporary pop/rock, with a twist of blues & r&b. This songwriter-pianist-bassist-producer-singer-arranger goes for subtle harmonies, lyrical melodies (influenced by her extensive training in classical music) and an unusual stylistic range. "Give In To Love" is skillfully produced by Diane Lindsay with tasteful musicality, and reflects her songwriting style: deep and powerful, playful and sensuous; dedicated to the idea that the song itself is the star.
Lindsay's lyrics are penetrating and evocative, reflecting human hopes, weaknesses and challenges with compassion, honesty and spiritual insight. From the slow burn-to-sizzle of "Headin' For a Heartache" to the refreshing "Lifetime Love", "Give In To Love" features songs with a unique perspective, strength and maturity. The moving "Closer To Home" fearlessly faces loss and provides a soothing balm that seems to soak right through to the very soul. "All Over Me " ("Favorite Current Song", Reader's Choice Awards, Hot Wire magazine) takes a wry, Newmanesque look at the push/pull syndrome, and the slinky
New Orleans style "Don't Wanna Geddup" has been a hit with morning radio...
Mixed by Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Randy Sharp, everyone who appears on this album is an accomplished artist in their own right; including vocal production by Rosemary Butler (Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, etc.), who also lends her legendary talents as backup vocalist, along with Arnold McCuller (Phil Collins, James Taylor, K.T. Oslin, etc.) and Linda Tillery (Bobby McFerrin, Linda Ronstadt). Mike Finnigan is heard on organ (Rolling Stones, Crosby, Stills ~ Nash, etc.), Andrew Woolfolk on saxes (Earth, Wind and Fire, Phil Collins), Debra Dobkin (Bonnie Raitt) on percussion, and Don Kirkpatrick (Richard Marx, Amy Grant) on guitar. All remaining keyboard work, as well as all of the bass work, is handled by Ms. Lindsay with her trademark grace and style ("Best Bass Player", Reader's Choice Awards, Hot Wire magazine). Together, these artists combine to weave a tapestry of sheer elegance.
Diane Lindsay's performing and recording credits (over 25 albums) include Dusty Springfield, The Limeliters, Randy Sharp, Holly Near, Cris Williamson, Linda Tillery, Ferron and many more, as well as BAM Magazine and NAIRD awards as a producer.
